Training on intravenous medication administration in pediatric nursing: a before-after study

ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the effect of training on intravenous medication administration in pediatric patients nursing staff ’s learning and response. Method: This is a quasi-experimental study (pre- post-test), with 38 professionals who participated (IV) heart disease. For data collection, questionnaire 19 items was applied to participants’ before (pre-test) after (post-test) training. Data were analyzed by descriptive analytical statistics (binomial Friedman tests). Results: Nurses predominated (52.6%), mean age 41.2 years 9.8 professional experience pediatrics. evaluation, there an increase rate hits from pre-test post-test 13 items, significant difference (p < 0.05) items: removing adornments sanitize hands; wearing gloves when administering medication; gloves, mask goggles; checking patient name asking their companion. Conclusion: Training had positive effects professionals’ reaction.
